Identify the proof your business already has, where it is strong, and where evidence is still missing before you make claims you cannot support.

What you will leave with: A concise Proof Record identifying the business’s strongest experience, delivery, process, thinking, and outcome proof; the claims approved for public use; the claims that must be qualified, verified, or removed; and the next proof priority.

Resource Overview:

Strong marketing depends on evidence, but many businesses have never taken stock of the proof they already possess. The Proof Inventory provides a structured way to identify experience proof, delivery proof, process proof, thinking proof, and outcome proof, then distinguish what can be used credibly from what still needs stronger support.

Use it to organize existing evidence before developing case studies, website messaging, campaigns, sales materials, or stronger claims. The result is a clearer record of what the business can demonstrate today, where evidence is limited, and what proof should be developed next.

Best Used When

The business has valuable experience, completed work, client feedback, methods, publications, or outcomes, but does not yet have an organized record of what that evidence can credibly support, what may be used publicly, and what proof should be captured next.

Why This Matters

A completed project and a usable public claim are not the same thing. Evidence must be identifiable, supported by a source, interpreted within its limits, and accompanied by the appropriate permission before it can responsibly carry a public claim. The Proof Inventory helps prevent delivery from being presented as outcome, assumptions from being presented as evidence, and marketing language from becoming more certain than the underlying proof allows.

ACHIEVEMENT

What You Will Complete

Five Forms of Proof

Identify the experience, delivery, process, thinking, and outcome proof already available to the business.

Existing Proof Inventory

Record the strongest existing proof assets, what each one demonstrates, where the source can be found, its permission status, and whether it is ready for public use.

Public Claim Review

Check the claims currently being made and decide which can remain, which require qualification or verification, and which should be removed.

Evidence Boundaries

Separate verified evidence from assumptions and intentions, and record the limitations and permissions that must remain visible.

Missing Proof Plan

Identify important proof gaps and decide what evidence should be captured, how it will be captured, who owns the action, and when it should be reviewed.

Strongest Proof Selection

Evaluate candidate proof using relevance, source, boundary, and permission before deciding what deserves priority.

Proof Record

Condense the completed work into one reference for public claims, content, case studies, sales materials, and future proof collection.

What's Inside

Proof Principles and Working Rules

Understand what counts as proof, how evidence differs from a public claim, and the rules that keep wording within what the evidence can actually support.

The Five Forms of Proof

Examine experience, delivery, process, thinking, and outcome proof, including what each form can and cannot demonstrate.

Existing Proof Inventory

Record the evidence the business already holds and assess its source, permission, limitations, and public status.

Verify the Claims the Business Makes

Review claims used across the website, proposals, presentations, social profiles, email, sales materials, case studies, and product descriptions against the available evidence.

Build Missing Proof Deliberately

Turn proof gaps into specific evidence-capture decisions instead of stronger unsupported wording.

Select the Strongest Proof

Apply a four-part test based on relevance, source, boundary, and permission to identify the evidence that matters most.

The Proof Record

Create a concise reference containing the strongest evidence, approved claims, claims requiring action, and the next proof priority.

Worked Examples and Applications

Follow the fictional Northfield Operations example before completing the corresponding exercises for the business.

This resource is useful for

Businesses with real experience or completed work that has never been organized into a usable proof record.

Businesses making claims across websites, proposals, content, presentations, email, sales materials, or case studies that need to be checked against actual evidence.

Businesses that have delivery, process, or thinking proof but limited testimonials or measurable outcome data.

Businesses that need to distinguish what they delivered from what a client implemented or what later changed.

Businesses that want to strengthen proof deliberately instead of waiting for useful evidence to appear by accident.

This resource is not designed for

Businesses looking to manufacture success stories or make evidence sound more impressive than it is.

Anyone wanting to present expected outcomes, incomplete implementation, or remembered results as verified proof.

Anyone looking for permission to imply that completed work caused a commercial result when the evidence does not establish that attribution.

Anyone seeking legal, financial, tax, or trademark advice.

How it works

1. Gather the records

Bring project files, proposals, reports, screenshots, emails, client feedback, analytics, certificates, dated publications, system exports, and any written permission already received.

2. Work from sources, not memory

Use memory to locate evidence, but verify factual public claims against an identifiable source. Mark anything that cannot yet be located for verification.

3. Record the boundary

For every proof item, identify both what it demonstrates and what it does not demonstrate.

4. Separate evidence from permission

Record whether the evidence exists and whether it may be used publicly as two separate decisions.

5. Complete the exercises

Use the worked Northfield Operations examples to understand each exercise, then complete the blank versions for the business.

6. Finish with the Proof Record

Condense the completed work into the evidence and claims that should guide the website, proposals, content, sales materials, and future proof collection.
